There are a variety of children’s toys at the Museum, but one of the most recognizable is Raggedy Ann. In the Museum, Raggedy Ann is in her original box accompanied with books that she was featured in through the years. The box that she is in is from the 1980s, though the box isn’t in the greatest condition. The doll still looks amazing and is worth seeing.
Raggedy Ann was created by Johnny Gruelle in 1915, but the public was induced to her in 1918, through the book called Raggedy Ann Stories. Later a doll was introduced and marketed with the book; the rest is history. Through the years more characters were created like Raggedy Ann’s brother Raggedy Andy, Beloved Belindy, and others. These characters were all introduced in letter books. Article by Eryn Hull Class of 2023 |
